Just as a wedding is about to take place, the lifeless body of one of the witnesses is found in the crypt, resting on the Puits des Saints-Forts. The investigation is entrusted to Police Captains Victoire and Pierre Templard. Married for life, the investigating couple soon realize that the murder is linked to the legend of the Pregnant Virgin. A case made all the more sensitive by the fact that Victoire and Pierre are vying for the position of commissioner, which will soon become available. And it's clear that, despite their love and respect for each other, no holds are barred.
